Caberg Tourmax Helmet Features:


Tourmax is the first flip up Adventure on the market conceived for all the Eunduro and Maxi Enduro motorcycles owners.
As result of the long experience gained by Caberg, the first Italian company to produce flip up helmets, the new TOURMAX 100% Made in Italy is equipped with a peak that automatically moves close to the visor when opening the chin guard in order to minimize
air resistance.
Tourmax comes with the dual homologation P/J which allows you to ride with the chin guard open guarantying safety thanks to the lever P/J on the left hand side of the helmet. This lever when in the “J” position, blocks the chin guard in the fully open position avoiding the chin guard to accidentally close.
Tourmax is equipped with the exclusive Double Visor Tech system that, thanks to the easy to use inner sunvisor, allows you to ride always with the right light and in safety.
The inner sun visor is treated anti scratch , while the outer clear visor is not only antiscratch but also antifog thanks to the double lens Pinlock. Ventilation is guaranteed by two wide vents placed on the chin guard and on the shell that are easy to maneuver also with gloves.
The air is channelled through grooves on the inner liner that ensure perfect ventilation of the helmet. The lining is completely removable and washable, realized with breathable and hypoallergenic fabric for maximum freshness, with reflective inserts at the back of the neck.
Tourmax is offered in the single col :matt black, matt gun metal, and white metal; and in a sport graphic version the SONIC with white base.
Tourmax has a seating to accommodate the Caberg Bluetooth communication system “JUST SPEAK EASY” which allows to communicate not only with your own mobile phone and your passenger but also to connect to a GPS system, listen to music through your mobile or an MP3 player.
Just Speak Easy is equipped with Bluetooth A2DP that permits to listen in high quality stereo.

Last month I embarked upon an epic adventure riding a 30-40 year old Ural sidecar outfit across the worlds largest lake, lake Baikal in Siberia, during winter on an event called The Ice Run.

I needed a helmet that would suit the variety of the trip which would include low speed riding on ice and snow, higher speeds on snow covered roads, being passenger in the side car and also the inevitable getting on and off the bike regularly for many reasons, all in -25C.

All the advice I got from friends and others that had done a similar thing was to go with an open face or motocross helmet. I wanted the full protection of a full face but was worried about the misting (freezing!) so a flip front that could be worn both open and closed was the way forward and the Tourmax looked like a good option.

The helmet was delivered quickly and very well packaged, out of the box it looks great and I'm a big fan of the matt black finish. The instructions with the pin lock visor insert were clear and easy to follow and it was easy to adjust the bolts in the side of the visor to allow me to fold the peak forward to transport it the long way to Russia for the trip.

Review of relevant features:

Flip up front:
This was ideal for the environment and type of riding. Low speed or whilst off the bike I had it up to maintain airflow and visibility, on roads or whilst riding in the side car I had it down for maximum protection.

Pin lock insert:
This was surprisingly effective even with the huge temperature difference between my breath on the inside of the helmet and the ambient air (well below freezing)

Built in sun visor:
This was excellent when riding through snow covered areas on bright days, it also meant that it covered the gap between the helmet and the top of my balaclava, as a result I was the only one on the trip that got away without wearing goggles!

Peak:
This did its job perfectly, I didn't notice any excessive wind noise and no noticeable drag.

Air vents:
As previously mentioned, misting didn't seem to be much of a problem.

Quick release buckle:
Perfect when wearing thick gloves!

Summary:
I put this helmet through its paces in a pretty harsh and extreme environment and I am very pleased with the results, it is a great all round touring/adventure helmet for a reasonable price.
The chin guard is very close fit and it is a snug fit for me, so as always its best to try one on first to make sure it is a comfortable shape and then order from Burn Out Italy for a better price!!
